Teacher Academy

Today I began the Luminant teacher academy at Big Brown coal mine and power plant near Fairfield Texas. The trip down was good, I brought my daughter down to spend some time with my folks, they met us at Sams Restaurant off of Hwy 45. After lunch we parted ways and I looked up the hotel I was staying at... the GPS said that it was less than .1 miles away. I looked over my shoulder and there it was :) We began the academy with a lite dinner afterwards we had a discussion on what was important in the minds of teachers.. Global warming was a hot topic. Mr. Richard White did an incredible job discussing global warming without the fear mongering that so many fall into. I did win a Whale of an award for answering the closest to the percentage that man was responsible for CO2. I answered .005% the correct answer was .117%, of all the teachers I came the closest to the correct answer and won a wood carved set of whale comparisons and several books on whales. Come to find out Mr. White is a founder of "Baja School Friends" helping a school at San Ignacio Lagoon in Mexico ( www.bajaschoolfriends.org ) I'm back at my hotel and looking forward to tomorrow.
